“There is a term called a “lifequake,”
a significant and unexpected shift in the trajectory of your life
that initially feels devastating but has a beneficial outcome
of catalyzing personal growth, transformation, and rebirth.”

— from a concept by Bruce Feiler

Support and guidance continue today even after the event has ended. The calls, texts, and posts are inspiring. Friends have shifted to interrupting my revisiting of an event that is not healthy for the nervous system and gently advise me to start my own self-care, snuggles with the pups, and forward-facing actions that positively advance my life.

I am a better coach than coachee. Yet these experiences teach me the lesson that I cannot do everything, for everyone, forever! Life is better when the giving and receiving are in balance. Bad things happen to good people — and it is not personal. However, the journey through tough situations is better traveled with as many other helpers, and as much support and prayers as possible. My deepest appreciation for everyone and everything today.

Now, I resist the human reaction to fight, flight, or freeze. I pick up my life and responsibilities. I grab my good attitude and proceed into the world. My perspective is broadened with new awareness, yet I still have my values and beliefs in place.

I believe that most people are basically good, well-intentioned, and able to learn, and that when we work together, we can do miraculous things. I know that a very small percentage of folks are not so well-intended and do not have the capacity to share and care. My street-self smarts have been re-educated further with this new awareness.

I will walk forward quietly, gently, humbly, with a heart filled with gratitude.

“The greatest thing is to give thanks for everything.
He who has learned this knows what it means to live.
He has penetrated the whole mystery of life:
giving thanks for everything.”

— Albert Schweitzer
