“When you are feeling overwhelmed
to the point of giving up or feeling down,
start small.”

— Leslie Yerkes

Here are some ideas I use to start small. Feel free to use them.

  • Start with the essentials and self-care.
  • Make a little plan.  It is impossible to dig out of a deep hole in a single day.
  • Do something small and then something bigger from the top of the priority list.
  • Attend to the activities that will avoid making the “hole” deeper.
  • Do things that make you feel good.
  • Plan for some fun and reconnect with friends and family.
  • Straighten up your life “one room” at a time. I call it my sloth movement mode. As long as you are forward-facing, progress will be made.
  • Ask for and accept help.
  • Delegate some things.
  • Let go of what doesn’t serve you.
  • Practice humility, vulnerability, and gratitude.  They are all superpowers and strengths.
  • Breathe.
  • Celebrate.
  • Share.

I’m sharing this plan because I’m currently working on it. I would appreciate your insights and ideas so we can expand this list of good actions. Together, we will find ways to respond, recover, and create a brighter future.
